Description
DescriptionSouthern Illinois University Carbondale's Student Health Services is seeking applications for a Mental Health Coordinator to serve within the HEROES/Saluki Cares program. This is a 12-month, full-time position dedicated to supporting students through early intervention, crisis response, and case management, with a focus on connecting students to essential campus and community resources that promote personal well-being, academic success, and retention. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, professional liability coverage, and salary commensurate with experience.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
The Mental Health Coordinator - Social Worker will serve as a vital member of the HEROES/Saluki Cares team within Student Health Services. This position coordinates outreach, intervention, and support services for students experiencing personal, emotional, or situational challenges that may impact their academic progress or safety. The Coordinator provides professional case management, short-term counseling, and follow-up support, working collaboratively with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Affairs, Housing, and other campus partners to ensure a coordinated response to student needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: By date of hire, earned a Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program and eligible for licensure as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois within 24 months from the date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Registration as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) or a licensed clinical social worker(LCSW) in the state of Illinois (or eligibility for licensure of IL based on the reciprocity in another state).
