Description

Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. Pace is fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body and actively seeks candidates from historically underrepresented populations. The leadership and Board of Trustees at Pace are committed to making student wellness a priority for the school and will continue to invest in this area in the future. Pace is seeking a full time School Psychologist to support the social and emotional (SEL) wellness of all Pace students. This position will work in collaboration with counselors and Division Heads to develop student wellness programs, and to provide training and development to faculty, staff, parents and caregivers as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address SEL topics such as but not limited to mental wellness, anxiety, peer conflict, stress management, self-identity, etc. 

  • Collaborates with school leadership, faculty, counselors and Pace Board to develop a broader set of tools and programs to promote the overall well-being of our students, faculty, and parents

  • Conduct classroom observations and initial assessments using evidence-based assessment tools (BASC, Conners, WISC, Vanderbilt, etc.)

  • Consult with counseling team and Academic Resource Center (ARC) to identify and monitor mental health student supports

  • Provide research-based resources, workshops and training to parents, faculty, coaching staff and others on strategies to promote wellness for student success

  • Engage in crisis/grief management counseling in response to tragedies that impact the Pace community

  • Support faculty and counseling team with behavior intervention plans

  • Conduct risk assessments, safety contracts and interventions, and make referrals to outpatient care as needed

  • Provide weekly clinical direction and guidance to counseling team

Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in psychology required

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience

  • Must have experience working with a pediatric population

  • Certification in School Psychology preferred

  • A positive outlook, flexibility and collaborative, nurturing nature are necessary

  • Belief in the critical importance of diversity in the life of a school

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work on campus, in person
